In His Presence: How to Approach The Father in Prayer

Speaker: Prophetess Kisha Cephus , All Nations Worship Assembly – Chicago

YOU ARE CALLED TO BE AN INTERCESSOR!!

Reflection Point 1:

Intercessory prayer is the act of praying on behalf of others – people, groups, world events.

  • The role of a mediator in prayer was prevalent in the old and new testaments.
  • We were born to bond with Him through a place of prayer.
  • Ezekiel 22:30 – defines who we are as the mediator
  • Old Testament Intercessors
  • Abraham (had the tent of meeting, a friend of God – Every intercessor is a friend of God. He reveals things to us, He shows us things. He’s hired us to stand in the gap for others.)
  • Moses
  • David
  • Samuel
  • Hezekiah
  • Elijah
  • Jeremiah
  • Ezekial (was a watchman. He talked more to God than people, he was a prophet of demonstration)
  • Daniel
  • New Testament Intercessor
    • Jesus (He gave us the best example of how to stand in the gap for others and He constantly prays for us and on our behalf)
  • You never run out of things to say to God by Romans 8:26 – pray in your Heavenly Language, because when we don’t know what to pray the Holy Ghost does.
    • The Holy Spirit was there when you became born again because the 3 are one.
    • You get your Heavenly Language by baptism, laying on of hands but more importantly ask God for it. He’ll give it to you.
    • The more you use it, the more it grows and expands.
    • The Holy Spirit dwells on the inside as an intercessor so you always have something to pray for even when you don’t understand what you’re saying in prayer.
    • The Holy Spirit strengthens you.

Having a healthy prayer life grows you and helps you to be compassionate towards others. It is important to pray for yourself but it should not be all about you. The Holy Spirit will give you something to pray for and about someone else.

ALL Christian prayer becomes intercession since it is offered to God through and by Christ Jesus.

Intercession is not a specialty group – we’re all intercessors; it’s not only for the elite.

I AM AN INTERCESSOR.

I AM A FRIEND OF GOD. – He shares His secrets and mysteries with me.

Love the part of you that God has made an Intercessor.

Embrace it. We don’t all pray alike or for the same things. We each have our own assignments to pray for.

I PLAY A PART!!! – We all have a part. He hired us all and He pays us well! (Every time we stand in the gap for someone else, He fills a gap for us).

He will not leave an Intercessor blind or uncared for because we become selfless for Him. You don’ just bloom, you’ll blossom! I wage war for someone else while God wages war for me.

Stop battling with if you are or if it is someone else. IT IS YOU!!!

You DO  NOT have to compare or compete with anybody. You wear your own armor. You move in your grace. Study how your gift mix works and you work it. The more word you get in your belly the more powerful you will pray.

None of us have the same burdens. We all have different prayer assignments.

Reflection Point 2:

Jesus closed the gap between us and God when He died on the cross. Because of Jesus’ meditation, we pray for the saints and the sinners as well.

Get BEYOND the four walls of a local assembly, your own home, or your own family. Ask God daily who you can pray for. When you ask Him for an assignment He will give it to you.

Mediator – that’s who we are!

We should all be known for prayer. We should be known as the person who has a prayer life.

Definition – One that mediates between parties and variance.

Synonyms: Broker, buffer, conciliator, the go-between, honest broker, interceeder, intercessor, intermediary, interposer, middle man, peacemaker

Mediation – Intervention between conflicting parties to promote reconciliation, settlement, or compromise.

(1 Timothy 2:4-7 – amplified version)

1 Timothy 2:5

Romans 8:34

It doesn’t matter what happened at any point in time…NOTHING should keep you out of the place of prayer and intercession. That is a plot of the enemy to make you feel like you’re not worthy. The moment you ask for forgiveness, God forgets. Remind the enemy of Romans 8:1 – there is NO condemnation.

God’s not holding anything over you. If you did it, repent. If you realize it’s a cycle, then ask Him for deliverance. We can’t call Him things, (deliverer, healer, savior), if we don’t expect Him to be them! Our Father loves us unconditionally.

In His is the fullness of joy, strength, liberty. He instructs us. He corrects us. There is repentance and freedom.

If we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. If we submit ourselves and resist the devil he will flee. We need to draw near and submit and the more we do it the more the devil will flee.

Don’t let the devil trick you out of your prayer time or convince you that you don’t have a voice. The devil is a liar and can’t tell the truth. (This whole section is where it got good!!! Get what you need from it, it’ll bless you!!!)

A Model of Intercessory Prayer:

Daniel 9:1-19

  1. You are an intercessor.
  2. Whatever has happened, is all under the blood and will not keep you away from your Father.

You wear the devil out with THE WORD (God’s word)!!!

As you read, highlight every time you see the word “US”. He, Daniel, is talking about intercessors.

This is a wonderful model of intercessory prayer.

Verse 2 – Repose to God’s word. Daniel was taking heavenly rest in what God said.

Repose – in eternal or heavenly rest to God.

Don’t give God a resume about you. Find eternal rest in what He said in regards to a people, place or global event.

Plead with God, ask, invite Him to the problem. It’s not about “it’s on them” It’s God have mercy. God please solve. It’s no me and them, it’s all US.

Verse 3 – Characterizes by fervency. Pray continually. God is not your sugar daddy, Santa Claus or instant. You cannot have it your way. You pray daily. You don’t go for trouble, you go for relationship.

Verse 4 – Self-denial. Every intercessor is self-less. Submit to your process.

Verse 5 – Identify unselfishly with God’s people. You’re not better than anyone. We all have issues.

Verse 5-15 – Strengthen by confession. Make a confession over everything, Declare the word of the Lord over your life. Treasure up what God said. Command your entire day. Ask yourself. What did God say?

Verses 4, 7, 9, 15 – Depends on God’s character. Study and learn the character traits of God. What is His personality, character, His nature?

Verses 16 – 19 – Give God glory. (the whole goal of intercessory prayer) He should get glory out of your intercession time.

True intercessory prayer seeks not only to know God’s will and to see it fulfilled, but to see it fulfilled whether or not it benefits us regardless of what it may cost us.

List of things you can pray for:

  1. Pray for all of those who are in authority. (1 Timothy 2:1-4)
  2. Pray for ministers. (Philippians 1:19)
  3. Pray for Jesusalem. (Psalms 122:6-9)
  4. Pray for your friends. (Job 42:7-8, read it in the message and amplified versions)
  5. Pray for your fellow countrymen. (Romans 10:1-3)
  6. Pray for the sick. (James 5:13-15)
  7. PRAY FOR YOUR ENEMIES. (Jeremiah 29:7)
  8. Pray for those who persecute us. (Matthew 5:43-47 – rejoice at the end for those who are feeling persecuted)
  9. Pray for those who forsake us. (2 Timothy 4:16-18)
  10. Pray for all men. (1 Timothy 2:1)

HOMEWORK:

1. Embrace the intercessor within you.

2. Study the list for the model (Dan 9:1-19)

  1. How do you begin to have a life of consistent prayer?

It starts with your intimacy with God. People sometimes sense things but then talk themselves out of the topic and disqualify themselves. Write the name down and ask God questions about that person and what you should pray for. Define the assignment and then look up the scripture to support it. God has something to say about EVERYTHING. Focus your prayer on the scripture. You stop when you get peace.

Don’t make prayer complicated. Build your life in His word and the assignments will come. God will meet you where you are. Build up your prayer muscle bit by bit.

  1. How do you begin to get past or out of your feelings about your assignment?

Ask Him to decrease you and increase Him. Understand that He’s using you as the mediator. Ask yourself what would happen if someone felt the same about you? You don’t get to pick and choose what you pray for. Get out of your feelings, flesh, and head.

  1. How do you know or distinguish when you’re praying for religious chore verses results that are happening?

Pick up your own language. Don’t allow things to become your crutch such as prayer books. Don’t pray without the revelation. Build your own relationship based on what God gives you for you. Also Pray for and into your gift mix. Study how God moves through you and then you’ll be more confident and comfortable in your prayers for others.

  1. Why is it important to pray for your enemies?

This is where you begin to develop the heart of God towards people. Can you see good

in spite of the bad that they are doing. Ask Him what should you gain from the moment and what should you pray for? What is the motivated spirit that’s operating through the person that’s coming after me? Go beyond the moment. After you’ve been hurt or offended don’t take to social media immediately. Take 3-7 away and spend that time talking to God and getting His understanding.

  1. How do we begin to pray for our leadership?

Once again, ask God what He is doing and for His vision. Find scriptures and go to God with what He’s said in the word. God can use anyone to push His agenda. Be able to see the vision and glean what God is doing. There is a reason behind everything that is happening right now. Church is shut down because we did too much church and not enough God.

Either God is God or He’s not. We are either going to depend on Him or not.

Closing points:

  • Study for yourself.
  • YOu were born to commune with God.
  • You were born to intercede for someone else.
  • Take all that you’ve learned here, and put it into practice. Be a doer and not just hearer.
  • The word only works for those who work the word.
